So many beautiful flowers in the UK, what is the closest equivalent to the Texas Bluebonnet in Spring?

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

The Texas Bluebonnet is a type of lupine.
There are many lupines available in the UK but I don't know if any look like the bluebonnet.
Have you tried planting bluebonnets?
Don't know how well they will do there, they might not get enough light there & might get too much water but it might be woth a try.

Ordering flowers to Japan from the UK?

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

I want to send a friend some flowers in Japan. Ive tried various UK florists, but while all offer basic bouquets, none offer extras like Teddies, Chocolates etc for Japan. Can anyone give me a reputable florist, who can provide what I want?

There are so many web shops for flowers and extras located in Japan. Out side of Japan can't send flower and foods because of quarantine matter.

Where can you buy artificial hair flowers in the UK?

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

I live in London so are there any shops that sell nice hair flowers?

you don't have to buy hair flowers. you can easily make one by going to craft store that sells silk flowers. get ones that you like, sew or glue hair pin on the back.

Does any one know where in the UK hv the flowers- Red Lotuses please?Prefectly London. (For taking pics)?

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Any location is ok or somwhere not in The UK. But prefectly london or UK tho. I indeed need to take some great red lotus flowers for competition. Thank a lot! ^-^
Sorry, I mean the red water lilies or so called Lotuses. Thanks

I wish you’d said in your earlier question that you were talking about flowers … =D

Nymphaea lotus water lilies are really summer-blooming flowers, but you may just be in time to catch the last flowers of the season at Kew. Head for the Water Lily House.

http://www.kew.org/places/kew/waterlilyhouse.html

There are also about 40 different water lily varieties in the outdoor Aquatic Garden, but I don’t know whether the red lotus is one of them. Worth a look? http://www.kew.org/places/kew/aquaticgarden.html

If not, it may be worth contacting a specialist waterlily grower, such as the Dorset Water Lily Company http://www.dorsetwaterlily.co.uk/ or Bennets https://shop.waterlily.co.uk/redwaterlilies.php

The only other suggestion I have may solve the problem of being at the end of the flowering season is to try one of London’s specialist flower markets. I’d suggest visiting either Columbia Road flower market (Sunday mornings) or New Covent Garden wholesale market (opens at 3am)
